About Us
Establishment and Legal Status
The Nature Research and Conservation Centre (NRCC) was established in 2021 as a non-profit public charitable trust. It is registered in Kolkata under the Charitable Act of 1920, the Income Tax Act of 1961, and Section 4 of The Indian Trust Act of 1882. Founded by Dr. Muki Roy, the organization is governed by a Board of Trusteesto ensure transparency and accountability in its operations.
Mission and Collaboration
NRCC comprises a multi-disciplinary team of specialists dedicated to supporting the conservation of biological diversity. As an independent group of conservation specialists, the organization works closely with government agencies, affiliated research institutions, and grassroots organizations to implement its programs and strengthen conservation efforts.
Research and Impact
The centre accelerates knowledge generation by conducting scientific research, surveys, and assessments. In addition, NRCC performs Environmental Impact Assessments (EIA) in forest areas, helping to shape effective policies and strategies. Its work emphasizes a socially responsible approach to nature conservation, ensuring long-term ecological and community benefits.
